Product Description

Bacchus hopes you were able to make your Thanksgiving wine selections earlier from previous specials, if not, there are several other great buys to be had in store, especially this one today.

The 2016 Provenance Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley is a mighty delicious wine and one offered at a price that you can pour freely and be warmly thanked.

Why Sauv Blanc on a holiday meal that requires juicy, fruity notes? Because the Provenance is built for this day. Not only does the winery capture the highest quality grapes offered in the Valley, but blends it with Semillon, Muscat and allowed the wine to soften up with sur lie aging.

What does this all mean? By blending softer, fruitier varietals, the wine retains more robust, melony and a soft fleshy fruit flavor profile. It is richer, riper than the typical minerally laced steel curtain generally offered in a straight Sauv Blanc.

And, the sur lie aging – this is a technique that allows the wine to soften up in barrel, to let it gain a richer mouthfeel – more silky, while also rounding out any sharp edges.

The actionable word here is “creaminess,” and our friend James Suckling had this to say, while awarding 91 points:

“Very fresh gooseberry, grass, lemon and passion fruit with just a whiff of vanilla from oak. I love the balance of creaminess and crisp acidity on the palate, the finish long and energetic. Drink now.”

Personally, Bacchus and Co. have had more than a few bottles of this recently and recognized the viscous, generous fruit. This wine is not simple – the blending results in layers of melon, spice, creaminess, floral notes, all buzzing around in each sip.

Because it IS a Sauv Blanc, it will settle down food quite nicely. This can be an all day quaffer (as long as you get enough).

Provenance Vineyards is among Napa’s preeminent properties and adhere to strict, upper echelon wine making. Fruit is mostly estate from the expensive dirt of Rutherford, wine making prowess demands separate vinification for each varietal and barrel selection for the finished product.

This is a well thought out, we’ll made Napa Sauv Blanc. It is well worth the MSRP and the 90 to 92 point rating it got.
