Product Description

Bacchus will enjoy Labor Day Weekend festivities along with the rest of us, and wanted to pass along this nifty red now available at a great price.
The 2014 Veramonte Primus Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley in Chile is a longstanding workhorse of a wine – more expensive than most bottlings from Chile and given to a more critical review as it represents some prized vineyards in the mountains of Chile.
The Primus is rated 92 points this year – a typical rating as it rarely dips below the 90s year after year.
Bacchus has enjoyed this wine for many years, dating back to the late 1990s when the wine was first released by the Veramonte Estate and Agustin Huneeus.
Who he? Agustin, and we feel like we can call him by his first name, is the man behind such well-known Napa properties as Quintessa, Faust, Flowers, Benton-Lane. So, yes, there is thoughtful creation, impeccable growing standards, world class technology and wine making prowess involved.

Primus comes from handpicked grapes in organically farmed vineyards along the northern foothills of the Andes near Santiago. Using only native yeasts, the wines are allowed to shed any artificial boundaries of conformity and represent the truest expression of the land. It is not a sledgehammer, cherry pie-like juicer. Primus is respectful, silky with a medium to full body, depending on how long you let it open. You will find that five years has removed any sharp tannins so there’s a comfort to drinking this vintage.

It’s a very good wine and anyone who enjoys an international array of fine Cab ought to have this wine somewhere in their possession. Maybe alongside the Quintessa?
We are glad we can bring it to you, on this Monday holiday, for such a price.
