Product Description

Bacchus had the pleasure of sampling through a table full of wines recently and amidst a gaggle of New World pleasures, found an Old World beauty stuck in the midst.
It was a 2014 Bordeaux, a property now owned by Jackson Family Estates of Sonoma.
This 2014 Chateau Lassegue Les Cadrans is from Saint Emilion, not an inexpensive locale, and noted for its heavy base of earthy Merlot. This bottling is mostly Merlot with Cabernet Franc, to lend the wafting aromatics.
Besides the expensive dirt of Saint Emilion, Les Cadrans has another thing going for it: the winemaker.
Since the Jackson Family partnership with the winery, Lassegue is made by Pierre Seillan who has made some remarkable and high-scoring wines in France, Italy and California.
In fact, seven of the wines created in the Californian Sonoma vineyards by Seillan have scored 100 points. He uses the same approach in his work in Bordeaux.
Les Cadrans, which refers to the Sundials on the Chateau, is the second label of the Grand Cru Classe wine. The first label sells in the upper $70s, this label is about half that price.
What we sampled the other day was a wine — despite its youngish age –ready for drinking, though recommended storage is 5 to 10 years.
Compared to the New World wines tasted that day, this stood out for its unique aromas of spice and balance between tannins and acidity – it was a wine more prone to consuming at dinner then some of the goopy grape juicy wines on the table.
We fell in love with this right away. The well-balanced fruit, spice and minerality was refreshing and made us yearn for all wines to be just like this one.
We are willing to take a hit on the price because it is something we need you to have.
For a very limited time, this wine will be offered at sacrificial pricing, but just be aware it can’t stay this low for long.
