Product Description

Bacchus is back and ready to go, and to begin, a toothy and aggressive Italian red from Abruzzo.
The 2014 Barone Cornacchia Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Vigne le Coste, made from organic grapes, is our first choice for 2019 and we think it will fit nicely with where we sit here in mid-winter, such as it is.
What Bacchus liked about Vigne le Coste was the full throttle, plumy dryness that personifies this varietal. This kind of wine always brings out the desire for a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs to go with – and maybe some crusty bread. That’s right, no need to dive into the Gourmet Italian recipe book and look for the Beef Brasato with Pappardelle. Just friendly homespun red sauce.
Barone Cornacchia may not be a household name when it comes to Monte, but it ought to be as this family pioneered the aging and vinification of the grape back in the 19th Century.
Winemakers use only old vines from the estate, producing grapes of intensity and complexity often missing from Monte, especially the less expensive productions.
So, plan you midweek red sauce pasta, and open a bottle of the Barone. Be prepared to be hit with a wave of fruity, plumy, black cherry aromas.
Then hit the glass and experience a velvety, fully ripened, soft tannic creation.
Oh yea, the price.
